So, I had the opportunity to go with my instructor to one of his bjj seminars. This resulted in me putting together a short film.
Marcos “Yemaso” Torregrosa BJJ Seminar
I had a lot of fun making this video, and I think I may have found another outlet for creative expression. Now, I have to actually learn how to do these things well. =/ At any rate, I hope you guys enjoy it for what it’s worth. And, if you know of any free videographer courses online, holler at me.
This bjj seminar short film was shot on location (lol) in Bend, Oregon at Roy Dean’s academy. This is the second bjj seminar that Marcos has held at Roy Dean’s academy. In addition to the seminar, Marcos was very busy with non stop private bjj lessons all weekend.
I am still working on a piece about that weekend, but I had to put that on hold due to other more important things. Since that will be up later, I’ll keep this short. We had a great time out there. Roy Dean was an amazing host; we were treated like royalty.
The students at Roy Dean academy asked for a seminar focusing on techniques from the mount and open guard positions. Marcos is known for having a very dangerous open guard game in jiu-jitsu. Overall, the bjj seminar was a success. It left an impression on many of the athletes there. Most of the attendees had been to Yemaso’s previous bjj seminar a year before. From short conversations with some of them, I learned that Marcos is one of their favorite seminar experiences.
Being one of Yemaso’s students, I tend to take him for granted. However, when I train at other academies, I quickly remember just how much value we get at his Sacramento BJJ academy.
